This is my third attempt to post, but I've been busy...we had the baby over Memorial Day Weekend, and since then my free time for composing clever blog entries has been curtailed. I'm still able to keep up with reading email, but sending it out is not as easy.
I have literally become a cow, breastfeeding on demand since we came home, and for the last week also hooking up to a MILKING MACHINE as well. It is all I can do to wash all bottles and tubes, eat something, and use the bathroom before the whole cycle starts again. Little Dex has still not gotten back up to birth weight, so as of today he also gets a couple of ounces of formula to top it all off. He is now sleeping off his first really full stomach, and Steve and I cannot believe what a calm baby he is. In general, he's mellow, but has been a bit fussy, and it's because he's been hungry.
Oh, the guilt. I'm sure it won't be the last thing I feel terrible about.
The upshot, is that my baby will hopefully sleep more peacefully for longer stretches, and perhaps I will be able to achieve the small goal of having enough time to get a pedicure without thinking my child is starving without me.

Nice to read you back on-line, Robyn. Dex should gain soon; so good to hear he's a "calm" baby. Best wishes and congrats to you and Steve.
Happy to see you are back to the Blob,Robyn.
It sounds as if little Dexter is doing well. It took his father awhile to get back to his birth weigh too.
I am so excited I';ll be able to see him again on Father's day. do you think I could mind him while you and Steve go out for lunch?
I just remembered THIS, too, and I'm sure you've thought of it, smart milk machine that you are... he's getting your breast milk. HE IS GETTING YOUR BREASTMILK, it has nothing to do w/getting full up on formula, yay, great, that's what formula's there for. At the same time, he is getting ALL of the benefit and you are getting some help. Period. Go science. Love, another milk machine (Rebecca)
The Mean ol'nasty kitty is soooooooo
