I have to agree with my young friend Marisol. Driving in Glendale sucks.
Yesterday I spent as much time trying to make one left turn as it took to drive all the way to Glendale. I'm not sure culturally why the citizens there drive crappy. It may be a general attitude toward their fellow man.
When I finally got to the store, the woman if front of me in the checkout line at JoAnn Fabrics just left her cart. Right there in front of the register. Picked up her bags and started to leave. It is customary in America to then push the cart out of the way so the next person can step up to the register. Perhaps even taking the cart with you to your car.
I called her out on it. "Ma'am! MA'AM! Are you finished with your cart?" Everyone in the store stared at her, and she turned around. She came and got it, and moved it about 3 feet. Hey, at least it wasn't in front of the register anymore. The cashier rolled his eyes and asked, "did she just dump it right there?" "Yup."
She was WAY too young to be called ma'am, too. Ha ha.

But, Robyn, why do you make left-hand turns? I got my license at the age of 45 and was scared to death of left-hand turns. I finally devised the solution and will share it with you: Skip the left-hand turns and just make a series of right-hand turns and you can get where you're going.
Sometimes.
