Riding In The Car

Here is Dexter being pushed in a little car by his cousin, Claire. I'm just keeping the car going straight, she's actually doing all of the work.

Obama Dirt Off Your Shoulder Remix

Greatest political Video Ever. With LOL Cats!

I spent a lot of time on the internet chasing my tail today.

Dexter has not been sleeping well lately as another tooth is coming in. In fact, he is due to wake up any minute now, so I have no idea why I'm still online, other than trying to get some closure for the day. Not sleeping, so I was hoping to sleep in with him this morning as we didn't have to be anywhere, like we have had to all week.

The phone rings at 8am. A collections call for someone who doesn't live here. When I explain it to the woman, she proceeds to tell me that SOMEONE is using our phone number to obtain credit, but can't (won't) tell me anything more. This perks me right up, and starts a frenzy of Equifax requests and fraud alerts for all three of us. I call Citibank as well, where a very nice woman in their fraud department talks me down out of the tree by explaining that the collections woman was yanking my chain. She applauded my proactive efforts, and the told me to call her department back after I saw our reports if there was anything amiss, for us to proceed further. This took a good hour.

Once Dex went down for a late morning nap, I then cleared out a couple months of emails, unearthing a bunch of Facebook requests. I have poo-poo'ed it for a long time. Today I took the plunge.

And it was a fascinating and gigantic time sucker. I thought having a blog was bad. This Facebook thing is crack. It was easy to set up, but the searching through of friends was what sucked me into a vortex. Hopefully, after the frenzy of today I can get back to normal. Just a fleeting novelty...

For the record, I DID book that Time Life 80's CD collection infomercial I auditioned for at the end of January, and shot it the week before I did the Mop one. So look for me on late night infomercials this summer.

I finally found a high chair for Dexter. After months of searching, hoping I would find one at the consignment sale (no dice) looking online and at Target and the rest of the big box stores, I found the perfect one.

At IKEA. Where I should have gone in the first place. For $22.

Carolyn and Betty both have a very basic Graco one. Absolutely no bells or whistles, just a high chair, with a tray that comes off. If I could have found it, I would have bought it. Betty kept trying to give me hers, but what would Claire and Dexter eat off of at Nana's? I was about to just go to a restaurant supply place to get one of those wood or plastic stand ones, the one you might use at a family style place, sort of a booster chair on stilts, then I saw the IKEA one. Just a chair on stilts, with a tray. The tray doesn't come off. I don't care. It's small, perfect for our small house. It's white plastic with silver legs. The same silver color of every other thing in our house, as it's all also from IKEA.

I even saw cool storage boxes for toys that I will go back and get as soon as I can to corral all the stuff that is taking over the office/dining room. I'm doing a pretty good job with the baskets, but these boxes have lids, wheels AND can be stacked. And they look cool.

I ended up making around $68.00 at the consignment sale, of which I keep 65%, the rest going to the organization that hosts it. I spent about $50, but was able to get Dex a whole bunch of new clothes and toys.

I don't know if I will do it again. It took a lot of work to get everything organized, and then they still refused a bunch of my clothes for stains. I saw and bought clothes that had worse stains than the items of mine that got rejected, so I guess it was who checked you in, and then I only sold half of what I brought. The rest went to charity, which is what I probably would have done with it anyway, but I still could have passed stuff along to people I knew instead. The location is a bit tough to get to as well, out in Van Nuys. I guess I'll give it one more shot in the fall if I think I have enough stuff to get rid of. It's had to tell what moved. I think toys and stuff like strollers.
